Helping Christians Grow, Helping Grow Christians

Beyond the Walls

The vision of Beyond the Walls is to share our congregation’s abundance and gifts of service with those less fortunate than we are. Along with the monetary contributions, Hopewell will continue to send hundreds of members of all ages throughout the year to work side-by-side as volunteers with our ministry partners.

Dollars raised during the sixth year of the campaign will be divided as follows:

    40% for Local Missions

    10% for National Missions

    40% for Global Missions

►10% for the betterment of Hopewell's church facility.

Local

Urban Ministry in Coatesville/Downingtown Area: Hopewell is following God's call to have a physical presence in a local urban setting, which will include a property that will house programs such as Celebrate Recovery. This new location will offer a location more convenient for those using public transportation, and yet another way for us to offer God's love to our neighbors.

Good Works is a Christian nonprofit organization which exists to improve the living conditions for low-income families in Chester County. Through the efforts of volunteers, substandard housing is renovated and repaired, while homeowners receive a glimpse of the power of God’s unconditional love. The ministry offers its services at no cost to low-income homeowners.

Bridge of Hope is a local non-profit organization with a focus on preventing homelessness for women and children with the help of trained mentoring groups within congregations. Single mothers achieve permanent housing and financial self-sufficiency through employment and attain stability and enhanced self-esteem through ongoing mentoring friendships. “Our goal is to exemplify Christ’s love and to promote physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wholeness.”

Maranatha Preschool is a Christian preschool and day care center in the heart of Coatesville providing education, physical and spiritual nourishment, and the love of Christ for children of all ages.

Safe Harbor of Greater West Chester is an independent, nonprofit organization providing food, shelter, friendship, counseling and recovery opportunities to homeless men and women in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Grace Cafe is a homeless ministry of Arch Street United Methodist Church in Philadelphia. More than 100 persons are fed each Sunday evening through this important ministry.

Camp Innabah is comprised of 179 acres of meadows and woodlands in historic Chester County. It is one of the oldest church-affiliated camps in the Mid-Atlantic region, owned and operated by the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.

National

Hurricane Sandy Recovery: Hurricane Sandy Recovery: Families along the East Coast continue to struggle to restore and rebuild their communities following the destruction of Hurricane Sandy. Global

South Africa: Over the past decade, Hopewell has increasingly involved itself in the mission field of South Africa.  Our work continues to be inspired by partner ministries in the country that are already working to address the enormous problems created by poverty, racism, and the AIDS pandemic in particular. Read more.

As part of our continuing connection with South Africa, Hopewell has sponsored the presence of two missionaries in the country, beginning with Jen Lisowski four years ago, and continuing this year with Jordan Ridge. Jordan, like Jen before her,  is on the ground serving in the town of Potchefstroom throughout the year. Her mission includes supporting our current ministry partners, and identifying other ministries that Hopewell can partner with on a long-term basis.
You can read about her experience in South Africa here. In addition to Hopewell's on the ground presence, Hopewell has sponsored mission trips, comprised of youth and adults, to South Africa for the past four years. Watch this video to learn more about Hopewell's most recent mission trip to South Africa.

Hopewell UMC Facility

Ten percent (10%) of the Beyond the Walls campaign funding is dedicated towards the betterment and enhancement of Hopewell's church facility. In year six of the Campaign, these funds will be dedicated toward enhancing Hopewell's cemetery property, which lies directly across Hopewell Road from the church. This project will provide sitting areas, columbaria, a prayer labyrinth, and numerous plantings to provide cemetery visitors a spiritually-calming experience and honor the saints who have gone before us.
