Sports Ministry

 
Hopewell is part of the Downingtown Area Christian Sports League (DACSL). This organization has been in existence for over 40 years and consists of close to 20 area churches (all denominations) that share athletic competition based upon Christian fellowship. Churches involved come from West Chester, Downingtown, Coatesville and beyond.

The program offers three sports for church members and associated folks-Volleyball, Basketball & Softball. For all three sports, we offer both a competitive bracket for the more skilled players and a recreational division for those interested more in the participation/fun. This is an adult based program so players need to be high school age and older to participate.

► Fall Volleyball runs from Labor Day thru early November. Volleyball has become so popular that we now also offer it in our winter season as well (Jan thru April).

► Basketball is offered from Jan thru early April
 
► Softball begins in April and continues on thru early August
 
The format for all sports is similar. Games are played on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights at local churches (VB & BB) or area softball fields. Indoor sports are played at either 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. while all Softball games are played at 6:30 p.m. A typical season is 13-15 games played in a 13 week season. Playoffs follow for both the A & B groups with trophies provided to the winning teams.

Participation in Hopewell's sports program is really just another “small group ministry” within our church. Over the years many friendships have been made and strengthened by participation in our sports program. These friendships grow both within our church as well as with our neighboring church communities and the folks with whom we compete. By getting involved with Hopewell sports, you can get some exercise, meet new friends, and enjoy athletic competition -- all based upon Christian fellowship. Please consider joining our group.
